Even though I've known about this trip for over three years, I've only really started planning and preparing for it in the last few weeks. I booked my airfare at the end of July and have been on a spending spree ever since. New clothes, backpack, sleeping bag, hiking boots and a bunch of other gear that will hopefully make my life easier over the next six months. Sometime back around the middle of August I sent an email to friends telling them that I planned on going for a hike every weekend until I left. Well things got a little hectic and I've only managed one hike so far. My boots weren't extremely comfortable but they're ging to need a little break-in time so I'm hopeful. I think I'll get one more day hike done before I leave and will have a bette ridea how the boots will fair. They're Zamberlan Trek Lite 2.. if you have a pair, let me know how they've worked out for you. I've uploaded a few pics from my hike here in Manitoba so that other travelers can see a bit of where I come from and to see how this site works. The hike was a 10km out and back that starts in the old town of Senkiw near Roseau River. Nothing rugged or challenging but it was a beautiful day and an enjoyable hike.
